The other day I received a gift in the mail from my good friend, Miyuki, from Japan. I met Miyuki at Michigan State University in my Italian class. She was also more then generous enough to invite me to visit Japan for New Years 2006 and stay at a friend's apartment for free.
Anyway, I received this package (pictured above) in the mail and immediately made my day. I quickly opened the box and in it was a little thin box with a card. It was a wedding gift from Miyuki to Katrina and I. The gift was a pair of chopsticks. But not just any chopsticks, as these were made of cherry trees. Miyuki wrote that in Japan they are a classical wedding gift because they have to work in pair, like a couple. And to top it off, Miyuki had our names engraved on the chopsticks.
I am very thankful for Miyuki's as it is more than thoughtful and kind of her to give such a gift.
ありがとう Miyuki!
